Product Review: Sit Smart with BackJoy

02.28.2015 by Leah // 9 Comments

One of my resolutions this year is to find a long-term 'fix' to my back pain, which I get from sitting for prolonged periods of time - at home. Surprised at the mention of 'home'?  Yes, it's true.  At work, I have no problem because I move around a lot: I interact with my colleagues (so I don't just sit at my chair all day), I go to meetings located in other floors, and I ... Food Post: CYMA Greek Taverna

04.01.2013 by Leah // 4 Comments

We celebrated my dad's 6_th birthay last month at CYMA in Robinson's Manila, one of the few restaurants in the Metro that serves really good Mediterranean food. We haven't been back here for a long time so to celebrate the event (and our homecoming of sort), we ordered these palate tested dishes: Flaming Cheese (Saganaki).  That's Mozarella, Parmesan and EVOO served ... A Sumptuous Birthday!

02.11.2013 by Leah // 6 Comments

I celebrated my _ _th birthday last week in a very quiet but food-filled way.    It fell on a weekday and I took the day off from work so I can relax, hear mass and spend a quiet dinner with my family (which turned out to be not-so-quiet!).    I chose the newly-opened Watami at Glorietta 5 for my birthday dinner because it's new and  for a fully serviced Japanese restaurant, ... Bargain Finds at the Robinson’s Warehouse Sale

10.16.2012 by Leah // 2 Comments

I can't believe how far my P1,000.00 (about $24.00 at current exchange rate) went when I looked at the items I bought from last weekend's warehouse sale at World Trade Center, sponsored by Robinson's Mall and Metrobank Credit Card. Side story:  I went with AJ and my cousin, Mae Anne, and almost backed out when we were told that the sale is exclusive to Metrobank ... READ MORE

Weekend Loots: Books and Saizen Items

08.26.2012 by Leah // 3 Comments

Look what we've brought home from the weekend sale at Robinson's Place in Manila: Hardbound books from Booksale! Only P60 each (around $1.40 each)! Nikolai Grozni's Turtle Feet has long been in my book list and it was a pleasant surprise to find it among the many hardbound books on sale at Booksale.    And as I have been a big fan of Anita Diamant since I read The Red ... Cara Mia’s Spumoni Surprise

09.26.2011 by Leah // Leave a Comment

It's been ages since we've been to CaraMia Gelateria.   We almost always order for one thing every time we're there:  the Spumoni Suprise. Last Sunday we were at Robinson's Place in Ermita and saw a CaraMia Gelateria.    I was reunited with my favorite gelato cake yehey! Spumoni Surprise is a 3-layer gelato cake with a fusion of strawberry, pistachio and chocolate ... READ MORE

Dining at Mr. Choi

09.21.2011 by Leah // Leave a Comment

We had a family dinner at Mr. Choi (Robinson's Place, Manila branch) last night and it was a blast!    Everything we ordered were good! Soft tofu and multiple mushroom soup.   Yummy! Radish cake for me and my brother. It's the best I've tasted. Roast Pork Asado is my dad's favorite. We love this steamed fish with garlic - very delicious and ... READ MORE

9 months ago this feisty little cat we named Gigi 9 months ago this feisty little cat we named Gigi came to us super dirty (gusgusin to the max), malnourished and is in bad need of treatment for worms and fleas. Who would've thought that she will bloom into a really pretty cat, with salmon-colored nose, beautiful doe eyes, a prominent white hair scarf, and powdery white cheeks.

But she is very far from innocent, and is now feared by the male cats here twice her size because she is #GigitheCatBully pala 😅

Happy 9th monthsary, Gigi Ganda 🥰

To My Father By Georgia Harkness A giant pine, ma To My Father
By Georgia Harkness

A giant pine, magnificent and old
Stood staunch against the sky and all around
Shed beauty, grace and power.
Within its fold birds safely reared their young.
The velvet ground beneath was gentle,
and the cooling shade gave cheer to passers by.
Its towering arms a landmark stood, erect and unafraid,
As if to say, “Fear naught from life’s alarms”.
It fell one day.
Where it had dauntless stood was loneliness and void.
But men who passed paid tribute – and said,
“To know this life was good,
It left it’s mark on me. Its work stands fast”.
And so it lives. Such life no bonds can hold –
This giant pine, magnificent and old.

~

To our shelter and safety while he lived, we miss you so much.
Happy 2nd Year in Heaven, Daddy ❤
