Back from the Blogging Hiatus

01.29.2017 by Leah // 12 Comments

Hello, everyone! I’m back from the blogging hiatus to say I’m still here and that I missed you all (naks!). Things got really busy at work and at home last December, that I was able to publish only one (1) blog post (Day 4 of our Tokyo trip).  I also skipped documenting all the holiday happenings here in the blog, something I was used to doing in the past years. Instead, ... READ MORE

The 2015 Year-End Survey

01.15.2016 by Leah // 7 Comments

Thank you Aggie for tagging me!  I had fun (and lots of realizations) after filling out this survey.  Sobrang late ko nga lang natapos (2016 na!) but I think it's not too late to share this. ************************************* What did you do in 2015 that you’d never done before? Swim with sea turtles at Apo Island in Dumaguete! Did you keep your new year’s ... READ MORE

Product Review: Lenovo Vibe Shot

10.19.2015 by Leah // 1 Comment

I got myself a new Android smartphone 2 weekends ago, the Lenovo Vibe Shot. I've been using Lenovo gadgets for close to 2 years now and I'm very satisfied with their performance.  The smartphone I was using before the upgrade was Lenovo K900 and it has served as my camera backup in many occasions, earning raves from my colleagues and readers alike when they saw my crisp and ... A Rustic Modern Look for ‘The Bright Spot’

08.09.2015 by Leah // 18 Comments

A big shout out to those who expressed appreciation of my blog's new look.  It was actually a project I've listed for 2015 but kept putting off because I couldn't decide on the final details. For sure, I wanted less colors na for the blog.  Not that I didn't like the "Cath Kidston / tea party" look that defined The Bright Spot for the past 2 years (read about that makeover ... READ MORE

I'm sure that you have experienced meeting somebody for the first time and feeling that he or she has been in your life forever, like you know him or her already that your conversation took off as if you have lot of catching up to do.  Ain't that feeling great?!  Walang hiyaan, and you enjoy every moment of it because you are just being yourself. The reason I'm saying all ... READ MORE

A Postcard Project

11.04.2014 by Leah // 11 Comments

A few months back, I chanced upon this blog post by the DiploWife about a small shop in Berlin selling pretty souvenir items and paper products.  She shared pictures of the beautiful Berlin postcards she acquired from her trip in that shop, all of which looked fantastically 'real' because of the 3D-like effect. The idea of a postcard challenge came about from this blog ... READ MORE

Things that occupy my mind lately

05.15.2014 by Leah // 14 Comments

A lot of things have been occupying my mind lately, which left me feeling exhausted these past few days (hence the absence of blog updates). First, there's this wonderful proposal to partner up in a business that I am very much interested in - jewelry.  In fact, I already have a  business plan for it, ready to be discussed with my interested partner.  It will be an online ... 9 months ago this feisty little cat we named Gigi 9 months ago this feisty little cat we named Gigi came to us super dirty (gusgusin to the max), malnourished and is in bad need of treatment for worms and fleas. Who would've thought that she will bloom into a really pretty cat, with salmon-colored nose, beautiful doe eyes, a prominent white hair scarf, and powdery white cheeks.

But she is very far from innocent, and is now feared by the male cats here twice her size because she is #GigitheCatBully pala 😅

Happy 9th monthsary, Gigi Ganda 🥰

To My Father By Georgia Harkness A giant pine, ma To My Father
By Georgia Harkness

A giant pine, magnificent and old
Stood staunch against the sky and all around
Shed beauty, grace and power.
Within its fold birds safely reared their young.
The velvet ground beneath was gentle,
and the cooling shade gave cheer to passers by.
Its towering arms a landmark stood, erect and unafraid,
As if to say, “Fear naught from life’s alarms”.
It fell one day.
Where it had dauntless stood was loneliness and void.
But men who passed paid tribute – and said,
“To know this life was good,
It left it’s mark on me. Its work stands fast”.
And so it lives. Such life no bonds can hold –
This giant pine, magnificent and old.

~

To our shelter and safety while he lived, we miss you so much.
Happy 2nd Year in Heaven, Daddy ❤
